Asian Drivers

Irvine is something like 35% Asian. And they’re rich. So that makes Old, Asian, Female Driver in Mercedes/BMW, the worst driver on the road. Now of course not all Asians are that way, it’s a stereotype, but some stereotypes are true when you’re dealing with 35% of the population + female + sometimes old. We have plenty of dear Asian friends and family but just don’t drive anywhere near their moms or grandmas. Now I could make a thread on every crappy driver but I need to gather the biggest groups of the same driver for a post.

See this for an example:

Stories

  • 12/12 – We have this dangerous crosswalk near work. They put a crossing guard out there at night who was so bright and visible, you could see them half a block away. Well an old asian couple decides to head right into him at full speed, until they swerved out of the way at the last minute. A friend chased them down and forced them off the road and yelled at them.
  • 12/12 – Asian lady, Handicapped, Mercedes, driving with her lights off in complete blackness. Had no clue either.
  • 11/27 – We’re entering the freeway on the onramp, accelerating, when this asian lady does a COMPLETE STOP on the onramp. I think she thought she had to wait for the freeway entrance light. But it wasn’t even on, and the sign way before it, showed that it was off. So I haven’t flipped anyone off in like 2 years but I kept air horning her and flipping her off. She passed me again when I exited later on and I did it one more time. She was wearing a stupid barret too.
  • 11/27 – Asian lady drives off with her van door open. Her kid goes running after the van, jumps in and closes the door while the van was going.
  • 11/27 – Asian lady tries to make a turn, then drives up the sidewalk, then keeps driving in circles.
  • 7/8 – Asian lady in BMW tries to ram my friend. He spilled his bike over. She asked him if he had a problem? She meant are you ok?
  • 7/8 – Asian female decides to change lanes, but she does so at a 1 mile distance. She just kept driving forever in the middle of two lanes. I air horned her.
  • 7/8 – I was going through a mall main road and this Asian lady decides it’s her turn to pull out into the line, even when it wasn’t. She had to wait but decided not to. So I aimed my car right at her, and threatened to ram her. She freaked out and stopped in the middle of the road and properly waited for her turn as I went around her. Old, Rich, Asian, Mercedes.
  • 7/8 – Asian male, gets on freeway at 40 mph or so, holding us all up. I drive by and identify him.
  • 7/2011 – A week ago these 2 ladies in a BMW pull out of the parking lot and proceed to drive down the middle of two lanes way down the street before finally turning right.
  • 7/2011 – Yesterday guy waits until I’m doing like 30-40 right in front of his face, then pulls out. Luckily my car could brake enough. I air horned him for about 10 seconds. I didn’t flip him off because I probably work with him on who knows what.
  • 7/2011 – A week or so ago my friend is driving his motorcycle and he gets right up to a person waiting and they pull out in front of him. A motorcycle is really rough to stop when someone pulls out like that.
  • 4/2010 – Reader Story: “I saw the greatest Asian driving screw up this weekend – This Asian husband was driving a mini van and had taken an on ramp to the freeway, he realized that he was going the wrong way and I watch his wife convince him to turn around on the on-ramp! The stupid assholes were now facing the wrong way on the on ramp and trying to drive back into on coming traffic of people trying to get on the freeway. The sad part was that if they just got on the freeway like normal they could have exited 1 block up from where they were and turned around the right way.
  • 1999 – An Asian female in a Honda Accord rammed the back of my car at a stoplight. I was stopped for minutes and she just plowed into the back of my car at the light. Barely spoke any English. Had difficulty even giving me her information.

I had to drive roundtrip from San Francisco to Monterey for an errand. Without a doubt, this was the WORST freeway driving day, EVER. It had nothing to do with a monumental traffic jam due to an accident or road work, etc.: it had everything to do with some of the worst, inconsiderate driving by Asian drivers that I have ever experienced!
My route: 280 to 880 to 101 to 156 to Highway 1 to Highway 68, then back to San Francisco.
In the approximately 300 miles, it was one annoying, clueless, irritating, self-serving, oblivious, ignorant, inconsiderate, dangerous, unaware Asian driver after another!
P is for passing, not parking, parading or pausing.
Regardless of the posted speed limit, and even if you ARE driving at said posted limit, the passing lane remains that; a PASSING lane!!!!! Bottleneck after bottleneck was due to Asian drivers crawling along in the passing lane, causing endless frustration and anger among drivers. Because you are driving along at the posted limit, doesn’t mean that you can use that lane to cruise/languish!!!!! Get out of the way!!!
Why do Asians buy cars they aren’t equipped to drive???

Three and a half hours after returning to San Francisco and I’m still angry at their disregard for others while they’re behind a wheel.

OMG. This is so true and hilarious!! I was honestly laughing out loud. I’m a native Orange County resident and can’t tell you how many times I’ve encountered these same inconsiderate drivers.

  3. jeff says:

Hey, I'm stuck in CA driving with these idiots all the time. But you can't complain if you're from TX about CA drivers, although it is the only TX place I have been, Houston drivers are just as bad.

WHY? Because 90% of them are MEXICANS. Majority of them dont have a license and carry fake id. Its their culture thats how they drive.

The way I see it, at least in Los Angeles (and San Diego--the other counties of California I've been in have it far less pronounced than these two), a lot of the problems seen on the roads can be attributed to a culture that places great value on speed. Essentially, people in L.A and S.D. are trained from an early age to have their gratification instant, and thus they never learn patience. This is why drivers will speed up to block you when you want to change lanes, this is why tailgating is so rampant, this is why they rarely ever come to a complete stop at stop signs, and this is why there's so much lane-weaving: These are drivers who want to go fast and see slowing down or stopping as an admission of inferiority. For the record, people blocking to stop me when I'm changing lanes is an extremely common occurrence that I figured out a good way to ensure you can get into the lane you need fairly quickly: As long as the traffic is not too congested, just slow down by about 5 miles per hour and get in behind them. The driver trying to block you is doing so either because they're not paying attention, or they cannot stand the thought of someone coming over in front of them. In both cases, they will gladly let you in behind them. (Congestion creates a problem because it means there will be someone else behind them who will think the same thing, and the person behind them likewise, and so forth.) It is an animal instict at work. For most creatures, seeing another creature with their back turned to them indicates the back-turned creature has superior authority. Likewise, a creature taking up a space behind another creature is an act of submission. For some reason, Californian drivers fall to these animal instincts and treat their cars as extensions of themselves. They don't want you getting into their lane in front of them because, subconsciously, they interpret it as you asserting authority over them, but they'll let you in behind them because they see it as you acknowledging their superiority. That's what I think.

That's exactly it. It's the attitude of it's ME me me and the whole world doesn't exist besides me.

California people tailgate because there's so many damn people, if you didn't, the line of cars would stretch from MEXICO to Oregon. They added 800,000 illegal alien drivers the other year. So that's why. As long as they are not crazy close which I define as you can't even see their headliights behind you. Otherwise, that's how close people drive in RUSH hour. Otherwise, in normal conditions, they're just tailgating and being aholes if it's not rush hour.

Why do Los Angeles driver tailgate, I was coming home on the 60 fwy west bound traffic was almost at a stop and this female person in a infinite climb on my bumper so close I could not see her front plate in my rear view camera I got over then she cut me off and flip me off this was a accident waiting to happen and she ended up on the same off ramp on the 10 fwy west. crazy

The CORE reason that California drivers have become (Yes! They were once exemplary drivers!) the worst dang drivers in the country; ATTTITUDE! Many people in California have become extremely selfish, arrogant, rude, and just plain INCONSIDERATE. And it shows clearly in the way they drive. It is a "Me, me, me" attitude that explains why they tailgate and drive as fast as their vehicle will go, with no regard to the safety of themselves or others; they steal the legal right-of-way of as many other drivers that they can; and they will never lower their high-beams, no matter whom they blind! I was born and raised in California, and I used to love it. Now I cannot wait to leave!
    • John Carter on:
      Why?
It is the result of the pervasive entitlement attitude that has swept over California (I too am a native)! This selfish and inconsiderate attitude reflects clearly in the driving habits of so many people in California.

You are absolutely correct! I live here (in Calif) and I completely agree and sympathize with you!

  • About

I’ve driven in California since 1991. I’ve spent many trips running up and down the state as well as driving in many other states. After all of this driving, I became fed up with how bad California drivers on. I wanted to point out what they do to either help change a few drivers or at least entertain the rest of the world with Californian’s horrible driving.

I’m located in Orange County in a couple of the richest areas. I see every type of car that is out there in this area. It’s like a car show. Going to a car show isn’t exciting anymore because you see most of the cars driving around anyway. I also work at a place where people buy all the different types of cars. We have Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Lotus, etc. So you can even see a lot of the cars in the work parking lot.

Disclaimer: You’re on your own with these tips. They are not the official law and in no way represent what you should be doing should a cop pull you over.
